Marina is a young woman, living with her ailing father, who has trouble relating to other people and observes humanity through the nature documentaries of David Attenborough (whose name inspired the film’s title) in this one-of-a-kind comedy-drama from writer-director Athina Rachel Tsangari. Ariane Labed won the Best Actress prize at the Venice Film Festival for her bold performance, and the supporting cast includes The Favourite (2018) director Yorgos Lanthimos. Greece’s submission for the 2011 Foreign Language Film Oscar, Attenberg helped establish Tsangari as a filmmaker with a distinctive and confident vision.
