Selected by the Documentary Branch.

This tribute to Oscar-winning filmmaker Julia Reichert (1946–2022) pairs two of her Oscar-nominated documentaries. Union Maids (Documentary Feature nominee), directed with James Klein and Miles Mogulescu, tells the story of female participation in the American labor movement through extensive interviews with three veterans of the movement—Kate Hyndman, Stella Nowicki, and Sylvia Woods; Union Maids was added to the National Film Registry in 2022. The Last Truck: Closing of a GM Plant (Documentary Short nominee) examines the human consequences following the closure of a General Motors auto plant in Moraine, Ohio—the same location that was the subject of Reichert and Steven Bognar’s Oscar winner for Documentary Feature, American Factory (2019)....
