Though it did not break box office records when it was released in 1982, Tron went on to gain a massive cult following and spawn a film franchise. The story of a computer programmer who gets transported into a video game was scored by the legendary composer Wendy Carlos. A key figure in the electronic music world, Carlos made detailed suggestions during the development of the Moog synthesizer, broke ceilings with her platinum album Switched-On Bach, and worked with Stanley Kubrick in scoring his films A Clockwork Orange (1971) and The Shining (1980).
