The unexpected friendship between toys Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) is endangered when Woody is kidnapped by a collector determined to sell him to a museum. Along the way, Woody learns about his past connection with a children’s TV series and makes a new friend in the cowgirl toy Jessie (Joan Cusack). Pixar’s first sequel, Toy Story 2 is the rare follow-up that matches and arguably surpasses the original with its effortless balance of wit and emotion. Randy Newman was nominated for the heartbreaking original song “When She Loved Me,” performed for the film by Sarah McLachlan.
