The final film from master Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky is a solemn, visually elegant look at one family confronting the possible end of civilization. The international cast is led by Ingmar Bergman regular Erland Josephson, and Bergman’s cinematographer, two-time Oscar winner Sven Nykvist (Cries and Whispers, Fanny and Alexander), supplied the haunting imagery, including an astounding long take at the film’s finale.
