The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Hobbits Frodo and Sam travel to Modor in a dangerous quest to destroy the One True Ring, accompanied by the treacherous Gollum, as the surviving members of the Fellowship battle the forces of evil in the epic conclusion to Peter Jackson’s three-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic fantasy series. With its top-notch cast and skilled mixture of scenic New Zealand locations with state-of-the-art visual effects (including Andy Serkis’s groundbreaking motion-capture performance as Gollum), The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a landmark in fantasy cinema. The Return of the King is the third film in Academy history to top the record for most Oscars, winning in 11 categories including Best Picture.
