The Arctic: Stories from Our Lands

Special guests: Post-screening conversation with filmmakers Anna Hoover (Salmon Reflections), Ken Are Bongo (trembling floors) Hans Pieski (The Past and the Future of the Arctic) and Elle Márjá Eira (Ealát), moderated by Bird Runningwater.

The Past and the Future of the Arctic (2023)

In person: Select filmmakers in conversation with Bird Runningwater.

Join us for an evening of documentary shorts by Arctic Indigenous filmmakers. The works explore the profound connection between climate, land, and resources, and will be followed by a conversation with select filmmakers moderated by Bird Runningwater. At times poetic and always immediate, these shortform accounts of life in the Arctic Circle and beyond explore the realities of displacement, the necessity of the land and the water, the essential bonds between animals and humanity, and the perseverance inherent in the reclamation of historical mythology.
