Winner of the Caméra d’or, Zacharias Kunuk’s epic was the first film shot in the Inuit language of Inuktitut, was made with almost an entirely Inuit crew, and was filmed in high-definition video due to the freezing temperatures in the Arctic.

Winner of the Caméra d’or, Zacharias Kunuk’s epic was the first film shot in the Inuit language of Inuktitut, was made with almost an entirely Inuit crew, and was filmed in high-definition video due to the freezing temperatures in the Arctic. Based on an Inuit legend, the film is set a thousand years ago in a small community whose balance becomes unsettled due to ancient vengeance. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner (ᐊᑕᓈᕐᔪᐊᑦ), the Academy Museum is pleased to be presenting the US premiere of the new digitally remastered version.
