This female buddy comedy about a trio of beleaguered secretaries who plot revenge against their piggish boss teamed up entertainment industry icons Jane Fonda (who came up with the original idea at her production company), Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, making her big screen acting debut in a charming and confident performance. Parton would receive an Original Song nomination for the film’s hit title tune, and would go on to write the score for the Broadway musical adaptation, earning her a Tony nomination.
