Gravity in 3D
Gravity in 3D
Introduction by Sophia Serrano, Assistant Curator, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Director Alfonso Cuarón’s original title for his screenplay (written with son Jonás Cuarón) was Gravity: A Space Adventure in 3D. The end result more than lived up to the subtitle, a mesmerizing and thrilling big-screen experience that makes full use of the audiovisual possibilities of contemporary 3D filmmaking technology. Sandra Bullock (in an intensely physical Oscar-nominated performance) plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a novice astronaut who finds herself fighting for her life after a catastrophic accident in Earth’s orbit. The film won a total of seven Oscars including awards for Directing, Sound Mixing, Film Editing, Sound Editing, Visual Effects, Music (Original Score), and Cinematography, courtesy of Emmanuel Lubezki, whose work is explored in the museum’s Stories of Cinema galleries.
All guests who present a ticket for a film screening, Tuesday through Saturday (and the first Sunday of every month), receive 10% off all food and non-alcoholic beverages at Fanny's. Discount only applicable on the same day as the screening and cannot be redeemed for another screening or date. Dinner reservations can be made on OpenTable or Resy.
