GoodFellas

Nicholas Pileggi’s nonfiction book Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family inspired this unsparing look at the criminal life, one of director Martin Scorsese’s most enduring and influential films. Ray Liotta stars as Henry Hill, who achieved his childhood dream of becoming a gangster only to end up, in his own words, “a schnook.” Robert De Niro, Paul Sorvino, and Joe Pesci gave indelible performances as Liotta’s fellow hoodlums, with Pesci winning for his chilling supporting role; the film received five additional nominations including Best Picture and Directing.
