Gallery Conversation: Significant Movies and Moviemakers with Dara Jaffe

Gallery Conversation: Significant Movies and Moviemakers with Dara Jaffe

The Education and Public Engagement team invites visitors to explore Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s ongoing core exhibition that presents diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create.

Enjoy a conversation with Associate Curator Dara Jaffe as we reflect on the Stories of Cinema gallery Significant Movies and Moviemakers. The gallery features six narratives that highlight movies and moviemakers including film artists, directors, and producers that have made important and dynamic contributions to cinema.

In its inaugural year, these stories feature the technical savvy of Citizen Kane (1941), the real Los Angeles locations of Real Women Have Curves (2002), and the detail and creativity of film artists Thelma Schoonmaker, Bruce Lee, Emmanuel Lubezki, and Oscar Micheaux.

The conversation will take place in the Netflix Lounge on Level 2, near the entrance to the gallery Significant Movies and Moviemakers.

If you have any questions, or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
