Dune
Frank Herbert’s classic science-fiction novel was brought to the big screen for the second time in this lavish, intelligent adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve, which received 10 nominations including Best Picture. Timothée Chalamet plays the young heir Paul Atreides, whose noble family finds itself in mortal danger after relocating to the forbidden desert planet Arrakis, the source of the “spice” that allows interstellar travel. The film won Oscars for its Cinematography, Film Editing, Original Score, Production Design, Sound, and Visual Effects.
