Drop-In Workshops for Families: Special Effects Makeup

Drop-In Workshops for Families: Special Effects Makeup

Join us for special effects makeup workshops inspired by our Family Matinees series featuring weird and wonderful family hits of 1988!

The Education team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to create, learn, and have fun!

Our January Drop-In Workshops will focus on the artistry of special effects makeup inspired by classic films from 1988 in our Family Matinees series—Willow, Big Top Pee-wee, The Land Before Time, and Beetlejuice.

On Saturday, January 7 we will be joined by prosthetic makeup artist Tami Lane who won the Academy Award for Makeup for the 2005 film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lane received an additional Academy Award nomination for the 2012 film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Join us anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level.

Workshop Dates:
Saturdays: January 7, 14, 21
