Drop-In Workshops for Families: Puppets and Pride!

Drop-In Workshops for Families: Puppets and Pride!

Join us for family workshops inspired by Pinocchio (1940) and marionette shows from the Bob Baker Marionette Theater!

The Education team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to create, learn, and have fun!

Our June workshops will focus on stories of love, belonging, and finding your place in the world. Create original storyboards and characters that tell your story! We are inspired by our Family Matinee screening of Pinocchio (1940) on Saturday, June 3 at 11am.

We are also excited to welcome the Bob Baker Marionette Theater at each of our workshops this month!

Join us anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level for the workshop. The marionette show will be presented in our Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.

About Bob Baker Marionette Theater
Integral to our nonprofit mission, Bob Baker Marionette Theater envisions an inclusive community empowered with a creative toolbox to better the world around them. The Theater has always been a place for LGBTQ+ artists to make art in LA and come together in a safe community that fosters artistic expression and joyful creation.

Bob Baker Marionette Theater is an iconic Los Angeles institution that has served millions of children and families since 1963. As a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization, their mission is to educate, celebrate, and inspire imagination through Puppetry and the Allied Arts. With over 3,000 handcrafted puppets and a passionate and creative staff, the Theater strives to make the world as imaginative as they see it. Now in a new Highland Park home, they are actively expanding programs to reach families, adults, and their community at large.
