The Youth Programs team invites families to join museum educators on the first three Saturdays of the month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to learn, create, and have fun!

The Youth Programs team invites families to join museum educators on the first three Saturdays of the month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to learn, create, and have fun!

Our June drop-in workshops will focus on creating pre-cinematic optical toys and devices inspired by Martin Scorsese’s loving tribute to early cinema, Hugo (2011).

Join us from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio, Lower Level.

Workshop dates:
Saturdays: June 4, 11, and 18

Our May drop-in workshops will focus on character design, inspired by the Jim Henson and Frank Oz fantasy film The Dark Crystal (USA, 1982). Design your own fantasy character with foam modeling clay!

Film and Poetry with Carlos López Estrada and Get Lit

Director Carlos López Estrada and youth poetry organization Get Lit present a talk and workshop for teens to create poems about their community. Carlos will talk about the influence of poetry in his films and do a Q&A.
