Program Series: Drop-in Workshops for Families
Drop-In Workshops for Families
Create your own spooky shadow puppet diorama inspired by The Adventures of Prince Achmed.
Sat, Oct 1, 2022

The Youth Programs team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to create, learn, and have fun! Our October Drop-In Workshop will focus on creating spooky shadow puppet dioramas inspired by The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) which is featured in the Inventing Worlds and Characters: Animation gallery in our Stories of Cinema exhibition, on Level 3. We will also learn how to set up a Pepper’s Ghost illusion! Pepper's Ghost is a special effects technique for creating transparent ghostly images. This technique has been a staple of theaters and haunted houses since John Pepper popularized it in the 1800s. Join us anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio... on the museum’s Lower Level. Check back soon for upcoming workshop themes! If you have any questions or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
