Drop-In Workshops for Families

Drop-In Workshops for Families

Create your own production design mood board inspired by the characters from Inside Out

The Youth Programs team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to create, learn, and have fun!

Our September drop-in workshops will focus on creating production design “mood boards” inspired by the character designs from the film Inside Out (2015) that are featured in our gallery Inventing Worlds and Characters: Animation, on Level 3, part of our Stories of Cinema exhibition.

Learn an important step of production design that includes how to create an environment or home for a movie character by creating a mixed media mood board. A mood board is a visual representation or collage that expresses an idea or feeling.

For our September 10 workshop, we will be joined by film and television production design team Michele Yu and Cindy Chao known for Waffles + Mochi (2021), A Black Lady Sketch Show (2019), and the upcoming Disney+ series American Born Chinese. Yu and Chaowill share their creative process and guidance as we create our mood boards!

Join us anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level.

Workshop Dates:
Saturday, September 3 and Saturday, September 10
