Drop-In Workshop for Teens with Gilbert Trejo and El Cine

Learn how to film a music video with director Gilbert Trejo and El Cine!

The Education team invites teens to join museum educators on the third Friday of every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings, explore the museum, hang out, and get creative.

Our July Drop-In Workshop for Teens is a special two-part class with actor and director Gilbert Trejo! The workshop is provided in partnership with El Cine, a non-profit focused on providing accessible film education through free film workshops, film screenings, and conversations that aim to elevate, educate, and promote Latin voices within the film and television industry.

Students will be taken through the process of an independent music video production from inception to completion, with a focus on client communication, incorporating your own stylistic voice, working with budgetary constraints, and on-set problem solving.

This workshop will be broken down into two parts covering Conceptualization/Pre-production, Shoot, and Post Production/Completion.

Both workshops will accommodate returning students as well as first time attendees.

Meet us on Fridays, July 21 and 28, from 5pm to 7pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level. Workshops are designed for teens ages 14 and up. Snacks will be provided.

All workshops are free with museum admission and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Museum admission is free for youth ages 17 and under.

Check back soon for upcoming workshop themes.

If you have any questions, or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
