Children at art table in Shirley Temple Education Studio

The Education team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to learn, create, and have fun! Our May Drop-In Workshop for Families is inspired by Jewish American Heritage Month and the theme of family traditions from this month’s Family Matinees screenings like Hand in Hand (1961), Fiddler on the Roof (1971), and An American Tail (1986). Join us in sharing your own family’s traditions and stories and reflect on why they are important to you. Families can participate in designing and creating their own movie poster that features their family as the main characters! Join us anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the... museum’s Lower Level. Workshop Date: Saturday, May 20 Check back soon for upcoming workshop themes! If you have any questions, or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.

Drop-In Workshop for Families: Claymation

July’s Drop-in Workshop for Families is inspired by the Family Matinee Series’ theme of summer camp! Families can create their own Claymation animation depicting a story about camping.

To create Claymation, filmmakers create movement with each frame by using armatures and clay. Join us in the Shirley Temple Education Studio to create your own Claymation stop-motion animation!

Join us in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level at the times provided.
