Drop-In Tours: Stories of CinemaI Am Somebody

The Education and Public Engagement team invites visitors to explore Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s ongoing core exhibition that presents diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create.

Join museum educators on Friday afternoons to explore highlights on moviemakers and movie objects.

In March, our Drop-In Tours will focus on Women in Film in both the Stories of Cinema and the Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898–1971 exhibitions. Museum educators will explore the careers of women in film, spotlighting directors, actors, animators, and costume designers who celebrated firsts and used filmmaking to express their voices and artistic visions. Conversations with educators may highlight Madeline Anderson and her film I Am Somebody, Agnès Varda, and Lourdes Portillo.

All are welcome to join this public drop-in style gallery conversation, free with admission, from 1pm to 3pm. Meet educators in Stories of Cinema, on Level 2 in the Wanda Gallery or on Level 3 in the Rolex Gallery, and Regeneration, on Level 4 in the Katzenberg Gallery.

If you have any questions, or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
