Drop-In Tours: Stories of Cinema—Black Is Beautiful

Drop-In Tours: Stories of Cinema—Black Is Beautiful

Discover cherished works in the museum’s core exhibition, Stories of Cinema, during a drop-in tour with museum educators.

The Education and Public Engagement team invites visitors to explore Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s ongoing core exhibition that presents diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create.

Join museum educators on Friday afternoons to explore spotlights on moviemakers and movie objects.

In February, our Drop-In Tours will focus on Black excellence in both the Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898–1971 exhibition and in Stories of Cinema. Museum educators will explore the careers of directors, actors, and screenwriters who fueled their art forms through activism. Conversations with educators may also highlight the Black is Beautiful poster which marks the beginning of an important cultural moment in the US in the 1960s.

All are welcome to join this public drop-in style gallery conversation, free with admission, from 1pm to 3pm. Meet educators in the Regeneration exhibition, on Level 4 in the Katzenberg Gallery, or in the Stories of Cinema exhibition, on Level 2 in the Wanda Gallery or on Level 3 in the Rolex Gallery.

If you have any questions, or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
