The Education and Public Engagement team invites visitors to explore Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s ongoing core exhibition that presents diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create.

Join museum educators on Friday afternoons to highlight the creativity of movie objects and moviemakers.

In August, our Drop-In Tours will explore Invisible Art in moviemaking. Conversations with museum educators will spotlight the art of backdrops in movies like Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest (1959) and others in the Academy Museum’s collection. The educators will lead drop-in style tours that will examine objects from Batman Returns (1992), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), and imagery within Pedro Almodóvar’s movie posters.

In addition, museum educators will provide micro tours on Level 3 of Backdrop: An Invisible Art and The Path to Cinema. They will lead guided tours of the galleries at 1:15pm and 2:15pm every Friday in August.

All are welcome to join these public drop-in style gallery conversations, free with admission, from 1pm to 3pm.

If you have any questions, or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
