Do the Right Thing

Special guests: Introductions by the film's award-winning Casting Director, Robi Reed and Kim Taylor-Coleman, CSA - Governor, Casting Directors Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Selected by the Casting Directors Branch.

Writer-director Spike Lee’s classic seriocomic look at one scorching day in a Brooklyn neighborhood is widely acclaimed for its Oscar-nominated screenplay and its eye-popping visuals, including Ernest Dickerson’s cinematography and Wynn Thomas’s production design, but much of the film’s impact comes from the dazzling ensemble selected by Lee and casting director Robi Reed. Along with Lee’s own memorable performance as Mookie, the huge cast includes acting legends Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, Rosie Perez in her film debut, Danny Aiello in his Oscar-nominated supporting performance, and such then-rising talents as Giancarlo Esposito, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Turturro.

DIRECTED/WRITTEN BY: Spike Lee. WITH: Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Rosie Perez. 1989. 120 min. USA. Color. English. Rated R. 4K DCP.
