Natalie Portman won the 2010 Best Actress Oscar for her intense performance as a talented ballerina struggling to keep her grip on reality in director Darren Aronofsky’s stylish mixture of dance drama and psychological thriller. The film earned additional nominations for Best Picture, Directing, Cinematography (Matthew Libatique), and Film Editing (Andrew Weisblum), while Portman’s performance was supported by a stellar cast including Vincent Cassel as her demanding director, Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder as rival dancers, and the great Barbara Hershey as Portman’s loving but controlling mother.
