Dick King-Smith’s 1983 children’s novel The Sheep-Pig was the basis for this internationally popular modern family classic, which received seven nominations including Best Picture and won an Oscar for Visual Effects. Veteran character actor James Cromwell was nominated for Supporting Actor for his touching performance as the taciturn Farmer Hoggett, whose plucky pig Babe is determined to prove his worth as a sheep herder to avoid becoming bacon.
