April in Paris

April in Paris

Inspired by the 1932 song of the same name, April in Paris stars Doris Day as a chorus girl, Ethel "Dynamite" Jackson, who, thanks to a case of mistaken identity, is sent to Paris to represent the United States at a prestigious theater. During passage, the bureaucrat who bungled the invite (Ray Bolger) falls for Ethel, despite being engaged. In addition to singing her version of the titular jazz standard, here Day also danced. Directed by David Butler, the film was edited by Irene Morra, who began working in the silent era and helped to establish the Motion Picture Editors Guild
