An adaptation of Brian Aldiss’s 1969 story Supertoys Last All Summer Long was one of several film projects planned by Stanley Kubrick, but after his death in 1999, Steven Spielberg took the reins and delivered one of his most ambitious and daring films. David (the uncanny Haley Joel Osment) is a lifelike android created to replace a lost child, who finds that human emotions are more fickle than robot feelings in this thoughtful science-fiction adventure that presents a plausible future world.
