Production designer Hannah Beachler created the imaginary, Afrofuturist society of Wakanda for the film version of Marvel’s superhero Black Panther, and she and set decorator Jay Hart won the Production Design Oscar for their distinctive work. In Ryan Coogler’s epic and thematically ambitious comic adventure, which received seven nominations including Best Picture, and won three Oscars, Chadwick Boseman is T’Challa/Black Panther, the ruler of Wakanda, who finds his kingdom threatened by the merciless Erik Killmonger (a charismatic Michael B. Jordan), who has a grudge against T’Challa’s homeland.

Join ​us at Fanny's as we host guest chef Rashida Holmes of Bridgetown Roti, before ​the screening ​of Black Panther in the Academy Museum's David Geffen Theater (tickets sold separately). This special themed dinner will feature a four-course tasting menu; guests may also choose to add on an (optional) wine pairing with selections from Fanny's wine director Henri Marquis. The Fanny's bar will also feature a Black Panther-inspired cocktail (black currant, Avua cachaca, whey, Byrrh, seasonal spices/fruit and meyer lemon air, topped with a "vibranium" flower) for the evening.
